Coos County's Shining Stars

The Coos County Shining Stars Program is an exciting mentorship opportunity designed for children ages 5–12. Our goal is to provide each participant with a fun and empowering experience while helping them develop valuable life skills such as self-confidence, stage presence, poise, leadership, and advocacy for a social cause.

Each Shining Star is paired with a Miss Coos County Program contestant, creating a special mentorship experience for both. Contestants have the opportunity to serve as positive role models, while Shining Stars are introduced to the confidence, empowerment, and encouragement that come from being part of the Miss Coos County Program before reaching competition age.

On competition night, our Shining Stars will take the stage and showcase what they have learned by performing a special routine alongside their fellow Stars and mentors.

A program fee is required for participation. Each Shining Star will receive a Coos County Shining Star T-shirt, sash, and tiara.

​

 Shining Stars will have the opportunity to meet their mentors at a fun meet-and-greet hosted by the Miss Coos County Program. Stars will also attend rehearsals where they will learn their special dance routine and prepare for competition night.

​

Each year, our Shining Stars also participate in a fundraiser to support the Miss Coos County Program. Funds raised go directly toward helping provide scholarships and supporting future Shining Star events and activities.
