ABOUT US

A Legacy of Excellence

Since 1981, the Miss Coos County Scholarship Program has been dedicated to empowering young women throughout Coos County as they pursue their educational, personal, and professional goals.
Through participation in the program, young women gain valuable experience in leadership, community service, communication, and personal development—skills that extend far beyond the competition stage and help prepare them for future success.
As a nonprofit affiliate of the Miss America Organization, the Miss Coos County Scholarship Program is proud to provide scholarship opportunities and in-kind support to deserving young women in our community. Each year, Miss Coos County earns the opportunity to represent our area at the Miss Oregon Competition in Seaside, Oregon, where she competes for additional scholarships and the opportunity to advance to Miss America.
For more than four decades, our program has remained committed to scholarship, service, leadership, and empowering the next generation of women in Coos County.

Brinkley is a graduate of UC Davis and is currently attending Southwestern Oregon Community College while pursuing a career in dermatology. She balances school with her 9-to-5 job, helping on her family’s cranberry bog, and volunteering throughout her community.
Her Community Service Initiative, MENTO-Mentum: Bringing Menopause Awareness and Education to Women of All Ages, has been a driving force during her year of service. Brinkley successfully worked with local commissioners to have June officially proclaimed Menopause Awareness Month in Coos County. She also organized a gala featuring educational keynote speakers, including a local midwife who discussed the signs and symptoms of menopause. The event raised more than $5,000 for menopause research.
Adding to an already remarkable year, Brinkley was named a Top 10 finalist at the 2026 Miss Oregon Competition.

Her Community Service Initiative, Roots to Rise: Nurturing and Helping Underserved Youth, reflects her dedication to supporting young people in her community. In June, Akyla organized a bake sale fundraiser that raised $800, with the proceeds going toward school and hygiene supplies for local youth in need.
